Othomaniki Krini – Heraklions Turkish Fountain

Othomaniki Krini is a beautiful ancient Turkish fountain that still survives in Heraklion. This fountain is very well preserved. Ironically it doesn’t get very many visitors, so you can expect to have it all to yourself when you visit. I love sites that do not get a lot of visitors like this one. It’s a cute little fountain that stands alone in Renaissance Park. Since it doesn’t require a long time to visit but it’s a great site to see as you explore Heraklion.

Not a whole lot is known about this site. Some say it used to be called the Ottoman Fountain of Utsleria of the Tekke of the “Order of the Three Men.” Sadly I wasn’t able to find anything to confirm if this is true or not. Come check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Hours

Othomaniki Krini Heraklion is open year round 24 hours a day but I do not recommend visiting this site after dark. Since there is no security on site and it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Directions

Leof. Plastira 45Heraklion 712 01Greece

This site is a little difficult to find. It is located near the Tomb of Kazantzakis in the southern part of the city. It’s inside the fortification walls of Renaissance Park. In front of the Hereklion Cultural center. Head towards Leof.Plastira. Between Pyli Vithleem and Giannikou lies the Othomaniki Krini.
