Not only will you see the history and culture of Pueblo and the surrounding region but you will also get to see what the Ludlow coal strike from the perspective of the children who lived it. As well as the archaeological excavation site of the original 1842 El Pueblo trading post. Sadly the original site is closed off for visitors and can only be viewed through the windows.

Old Monarch a 388-year-old tree

Being someone who loves nature, one of my favorite parts of this exhibit was a slice of the Old Monarch tree. Which was the oldest landmark in the state during the Pikes Peak gold rush. When it was cut down, it was three-hundred and eighty-eight years old with a circumference of twenty-nine feet. Standing at eighty-eight feet high, it would have been quite a sight to see. Back in 1883, the town council decided to remove the tree. Even though three-hundred and fifty people protested, the city council cut the tree down anyway. As a result, angry tree lovers voted the entire council out of office.
