Come see the most complete Allosaurus ever found as well as a 75 foot Apatosaurus at the Wyoming Geological Museum. It’s a free site to visit. If you are going to Wyoming, you must stop at one of the dinosaur sites.
As a matter of fact, some of the best and most diverse fossil specimens on the planet are found in Wyoming. Making Wyoming one of the best locations to see dinosaurs and fossils. Since they are of extremely high quality and are used in scientific research. Most of the fossils found in this area get relocated to museums and collections all over the world. So that everyone can enjoy and learn from them.
The Wyoming Geological Museum is home to The most complete Allosaurus ever found. The Allosaurus was the most common large carnivore during the Late Jurassic period in North America. With strong forelimbs adorned with sharp claws, powerful back legs and a mouthful of razor sharp teeth. The Allosaurus looks like a smaller version of a Tyrannosaurs Rex. It is believed that they hunted in packs and were also scavengers. You may have seen “Big Al” in the BBC’s “Walking With Dinosaurs: Allosaurus” video.
The Wyoming Geological Museum also features a 75 foot Apatosaurus skeleton. These were the largest dinosaurs to ever live on land. Since this was a herbivore, it would have needed more than a ton of vegetation per day. This specimen would have weighed twenty five tons when it was alive. About sixty percent of this specimen is from the animal itself. The rest has been recreated with casts from other specimen.
