Is Travel Insurance Worth It?

Is Travel Insurance Worth It?

It really depends on where you are traveling to but in most cases, it is! If you are traveling internationally, you most definitely want to buy travel insurance. If you are traveling nationally, travel insurance may be worth it, if one of the following conditions apply to you.

  • You are going on a cruise.
  • If you are afraid your flight may get cancelled due to bad weather conditions.
  • You may get sick or have an injury before or during your trip.
  • You may be terminated from your employment before your trip.
  • Someone in your family may pass away.
  • You don’t want to be stuck paying for new clothes if your luggage is lost or damaged.

What does travel insurance cover?

Travel insurance protects you against a number of unpredictable issues that can occur while traveling. Such as emergency medical or dental costs abroad. This alone makes travel insurance worth it! Medical and dental bills in another country can easily go above $10,000! That’s enough to ruin a person’s travel budget for a long time.

On top of that, you will have flight and luggage protection. If you get injured or sick just before your trip and have to cancel your trip. You will be refunded for all of your travel expenses. Also, you’ll never have to worry about your luggage because if it gets lost or stolen, it will reimburse you for the new stuff you had to buy. It’ll even pay for a suitcase to bring all your new stuff home!

Lastly, it also covers you if your flight is delayed for too long. This is especially important if you are going on a cruise. Not only will travel insurance reimburse you for your meals, transportation and hotel. If you are going on a cruise and your delay causes you to miss your ship. Your travel insurance will reimburse you for your cruise!

Does my normal health care or dental insurance cover me outside of the USA?

No it doesn’t. The minute you exit the United States, your coverage stops. Same applies for any other country where you may have health insurance. Emergency medical or dental procedures in another country can easily go above $10,000 and your regular insurance will not cover it. You must get travel insurance if you want to be covered.

What is flight protection?

In the event that you have to cancel your travel plans, as a result of one of the reasons listed below, flight protection has you covered. If you have to cancel your plans because you were injured or got sick. You will be reimbursed for 100% of your travel costs. Consequently if the airline cancels your trip due to a natural disaster or if you cancel because you just lost your job, you can also get reimbursed for your travel costs.

What is covered with Baggage protection?

If your luggage is lost or delayed you will be reimbursed for the personal items that you had to buy because you didn’t have your luggage. If your luggage was lost, this will also include a new suitcase to bring it all home in!

Travel Secret!

Luggage protection is an absolute must if you travel with sporting equipment! If your equipment is lost of damaged, they will reimburse you the cost or the repair or new equipment. In the event that you don’t want to buy new equipment right away, you can rent if yours was damaged or lost. In adition to the replacement cost, they will also reimburse you for your rental fees! After-all, you decided to travel so that you could enjoy your favorite sport, might as well make sure you can enjoy it, even if something happens to your equipment.

My favorite travel insurance provider is Allianz. Not only do they have great rates but they also have better coverage than most other companies.  You really can’t beat that! Check them out below!
