The beautiful Gooseberry Badlands are located in the heart of Wyoming. Being that most of this area is made out of clay, it will change colors depending on the light, heat, and humidity present. When I visited, it had just stopped raining. Which made the rocks formations look like they were melting away. However the “melting formations” created an extremely slippery surface to walk on and I slipped a few times but that was all part of the adventure! By the time I made it back to my car, my shoes were pretty heavy with clay but I did not fall.
This scenic overlook is in a very remote location. Odds are you will not see any other visitors when you come to this site. Make sure you bring plenty of water as you will not be able to purchase any here and the closest town is quite a ways off.
