Everyone Forgets To Pack This For A Vacation…

Everyone forgets to pack something when we go on vacation. Since this item probably doesn’t even make it to the packing list, I’m pretty sure that everyone forgets to pack it.  Yet it could be one of the most valuable items that you bring, it could make a difference between life and death! Are you curious as to what it is?  It’s Electrolytes!

Why you should always pack electrolytes for your trip

Incidentally, it’s very easy to get dehydrated when you are in a new location. Since there is so much to see and do, you get distracted and lose track of your basic necessities such as water. As a result, you won’t always realize that you are thirsty which quickly leads to dehydration.

My Near Death Experience

A few years back, I took a road trip through Moab down to Las Vegas with many stops along the way. Since it was in the middle of summer, it was extremely hot. Because of this, by the time I reached Las Vegas, I was suffering from extreme dehydration. So much so that I ended up in the emergency room with an IV in my arm. Consequently, all of this could have been prevented if I was drinking electrolytes twice a day instead of just drinking water.

Which Electrolytes Should I Bring?

Since Powdered electrolytes are very small, they are easy to pack in a bag. My favorite is Propel because it’s made by Gatorade. I love that it comes in many flavors and it’s individually wrapped. Unlike most electrolytes, this one also has a few basic vitamins in the mix. Simply empty a pack into a liter of water. Shake and drink. In order to get the most benefits from Electrolytes, drink one in the morning before heading out and another in the hottest part of the afternoon. This way you will be sure to stay hydrated during your travels. Because the last thing you need, is to lose a couple vacation days on something that could have been prevented in the first place. Everyone forgets to pack something when they go on vacation, do yourself a favor and make sure you pack electrolytes!
