The highest state in the U.S.A. It’s home to more than 1000 Rocky mountain peaks that are more than 10,000 ft high, 53 of these tower at more than 14,000 feet. Colorado holds more than 75% of the land in the U.S that is above 10,000 ft making this, the highest State in the United States. It was also one of the first 2 states to legalize marijuana. Thanks to the taxes collected from marijuana sales, Colorado is getting a giant makeover. The money is being used to repave streets, fix municipal buildings and improve neighborhoods. It provides housing for homeless and low income families. It funds new libraries, schools, drug prevention programs, school health programs, jail mental health programs and even scholarships. Many growers donate part of their profits to charities such as beast cancer research.
Fun Fact: Colorado is the only state in history that has ever refused to host the Olympics. In 1976 the winter Olympics were supposed to be held in Denver but the population voted against it with a 62% vote. Coloradoan care about the environment, they protect it and it shows. They did not want the pollution the Olympics would create so they voted against it.
