This was my favorite of all the Mayan sites I visited on my trip to Cancun. I loved it because the facade of Ukit-Kan Le’t Tok’s tomb was gorgeous and I got to climb another Mayan pyramid.

If you want to climb a Mayan Pyramid, Coba is the place to go! It’s the tallest one that you can climb, it’s even higher than Chichen Itza! Coba doesn’t get a lot of visitors so it’s an ideal place to visit. There are over 5000 structures that have yet to be excavated, this site is huge.
This 1200-1500 Mayan sea port looks magical towering 39 ft above the Caribbean on it’s seaside cliff. The Mayans here observed astrology and performed trade. They worshiped the sun and this would have been an ideal location. This is the highest point in the area and nothing would have obstructed their view. They also wanted to be safe from intruders so they fenced their city between giant walls up to 16 ft high and 26ft thick!
Colorful houses and haciendas make this colonial city the most iconic in the Yucatan peninsula! It’s a fun stop after a long day visiting archeological sites.
